City started 2021 in slow fashion as they lost 3-2 away to Swallows, threw away a 2-0 lead at home to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at home to draw 2-2 and then going down 2-1 at home to Kaizer Chiefs. The side have returned to form of late as they won 2-0 away at Black Leopards, 4-2 at home against Golden Arrows and then 1-1 at Baroka.

In their last match, Cape Town City thrashed Bloemfontein Celtic 4-0 at home in the Nedbank Cup as Tashreeq Morris scored a hattrick and Thado Nodada scored the other.

Cape Town City welcomed back Abbubaker Mobara in defence in their last match but are still without Edmilson Dove at left back.

Both Bradley Ralani and Justin Shonga were rested in attack for the last match and should be recalled for this one. Aubrey Ngoma is still absent on the wing.
