Stellenbosch vs Golden Arrows Predictions & Tips - Stalemate expected between draw specialists

Stellenbosch have become the draw kings of the PSL and with little goals being scored between these two teams, my best bet is a draw.

Stellenbosch hold an 2-1 advantage against Golden Arrows over their previous six matches with three draws.

Their last meeting was in August 2020 as Stellenbosch won 1-0 at home courtesy of Ashley Du Preez’s goal.

Stellenbosch have had a poor 2021 thus far and sit 12th in the Premier Soccer League table. A run of six matches without a win has seen the club dragged towards the relegation zone and knocked out of the Nedbank Cup.

Stellenbosch had two successive 1-1 draws at home to Black Leopards and at Bloemfontein Celtic before losign 3-2 at home to Baroka. They then drew 0-0 at home against Kaizer Chiefs and lost 2-1 at AmaZulu.

In their last match, Stellenbosch were beaten 3-2 after extra time at Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup. Ashley Du Preez and Phathu Nange scored the goals.

Phatu Nange should start this match in midfield after his goal in the last match as a substitute. Lee Langeveldt was rested in goal against Mamelodi Sundowns and will reclaim his place for this match.

Nigeria youth international Ibraheem Jabaar was signed this week and could make his debut on the left wing but Solly Khuyedi is still absent with a hamstring injury.

Golden Arrows are enjoying an excellent season. They are 4th in the Premier Soccer League table having suffered just one defeat in 14 matches so far.

Having earned a 0-0 draw at Orlando Pirates, Arrows lost 4-2 at Cape Town City in their first league defeat of the season. They responded with consecutive home wins against Maritzburg United (2-1) and Orlando Pirates (2-0).

In their last match, Stellenbosch were knocked out of Nedbank Cup on penalties by AmaZulu at home. The match had ended 1-1 after extra time with Michael Gumede on target and Ntsako Makhubela red carded in the final minutes.

Arrows will be without midfield workhorse Ntsako Makhubela due to suspension. Gladwin Shitolo is doubtful in midfield and may be replaced by Danni Phiri after the latter recovered from six months out injured.

Captain Trevor Mathiane is a doubt at centre back so could be replaced by Thabani Zuke in a big blow for coach Mandla Ncikazi.
