Sevilla vs Las Palmas Predictions

Sevilla have a new manager in Joaquin Caparros, so I do expect them to improve. Despite being threatened by relegation, the hosts should be too good for a Las Palmas side who've lost their last three.

  • Sevilla have won 8 of their last 9 matches against Las Palmas.
  • Las Palmas have lost their last 3 matches.

Head to Head

In 16 games Sevilla have won eight and Las Palmas three with five draws.

Sevilla Form

Sevilla appointed Joaquin Caparros as manager in mid-April, but they have failed to end their drought under his leadership. They are currently on an eight-game winless run and sit just four points above the relegation zone.

Los Rojiblancos won a point in Caparros’ debut against Alaves 1-1 at home (Peque Fernandez on target), but then lost to Osasuna 1-0 in Pamplona.

Sevilla started this month with a 2-2 home draw against another relegation candidate Leganes, while last weekend’s duel against Celta in Vigo was lost 3-2. Kike Salas appeared on the scoresheet on both occasions.

Las Palmas Form

Las Palmas’ chances of avoiding relegation are not looking good, sitting inside the red zone with just 32 points after 35 rounds, three points short of safety.

Los Amarillos had a great run in mid-April where they beat Getafe 3-1 and Atletico Madrid 1-0, but they have lost three games in a row since then.

That negative run started with a 1-0 loss to Athletic in Bilbao, followed by a thriller 3-2 home loss against Valencia. Last weekend, Las Palmas were beaten at home by Rayo Vallecano 1-0.

Verdict

Both sides have struggled in recent weeks, but Sevilla have the quality and experience advantage. They’ve beaten Las Palmas in eight of their last nine meetings, so a home win is the best bet.
