Panathinaikos vs Rangers Predictions

Rangers had the better of things at home but it should be tougher on the road. I do expect Rangers to come away with a draw.

  • Rangers have drawn 1-1 in their last 2 away games.

Head to Head

Panathinaikos and Rangers have one win each and three draws in five meetings.

Panathinaikos Form

Rui Vitoria’s Panathinaikos have been out of form in pre-season and are winless in four of their last five games.

Panathinaikos beat Metalist 1925 3-0 in a friendly before losing 1-0 against Nordsjaelland. A 0-0 draw with Schalke, a 2-1 loss to Braga and a 3-1 victory against Westerloo followed.

The Greens started their Champions League qualification campaign with a 2-0 defeat at Rangers. Panathinaikos faced 15 shots and conceded twice after half time.

Panathinaikos Team News

Full-back Georgios Vagiannidis was sent off at Ibrox and is suspended here.

Attacker Georgios Kyriopoulos is unavailable due to injury.

Rangers Form

Rangers are in solid form and undefeated in eight consecutive games in all competitions.
The Scottish outfit have drawn five matches during this streak.

The Gers started their pre-season with a 2-2 home draw against Club Brugge. They followed that result with a 2-0 win against Panathinaikos in the Champions League qualification first round.

Russell Martin’s team drew for a second time in three matches on Saturday and were held to a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough. Rangers trailed 2-0 before Danilo Pereira and Findlay Curtis scored in the final 30 minutes.

Rangers Team News

Midfielder Thelo Aasgaard is injured and unlikely to feature.

18-year-old Findlay Curtis has scored in three consecutive games and is expected to start.

Verdict

Panathinaikos are unconvincing at home and Rangers draw a lot of away matches. A Champions League qualifier draw has good value on Wednesday.
