Real Madrid’s start to the new season wasn’t ideal, dropping four points in the opening three rounds in La Liga where they currently sit in 3rd place, four points short of the leaders Barcelona.

After starting the new campaign with a 2-0 win over Atalanta in UEFA Super Cup, Los Blancos were held to a 1-1 draw by Mallorca in their La Liga season-opening match.

Brahim Diaz suffered an injury last weekend and joined Eduardo Camavinga, Dani Ceballos and David Alaba on the injury list.

Stuttgart had a rough start to the new Bundesliga season. After losing the Super Cup on penalties to Bayer Leverkusen (2-2 in regular time), they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Freiburg on the road despite gaining an early lead through Ermedin Demirovic.

Sebastian Hoeness’ side was held to a 3-3 draw at home by Mainz in the second round, but finally claimed their first league victory last weekend against Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1, Demirovic stealing the spotlight scoring a brace.

The Reds were also victorious in their appearance in the German Cup in late August, beating Preussen Munster 5-1 with Demirovic, Angelo Stiller, Pascal Stenzel, Nick Woltemade and Atakan Karazor appearing on the scoresheet.

Leonidas Stergiou is doubtful for this match, while Frans Kratzig, AmeenAl Dakhil and Nikolas Nartey are ruled out.
