Italy have a 17-12 advantage against Austria with 8 draws in 37 matches.

Austria have not beaten Italy since 1960, a run of 13 consecutive matches.

Italy Form

Italy have won 24 of their last 27 matches and won to nil in their last 11 matches. They are playing with plenty of confidence and one of the favourites to win Euro 2020.

The Azzurri began the tournament with a 3-0 win against Turkey. They took the lead through an own goal before strikes to Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne wrapped it up.

Roberto Mancini’s side beat Switzerland 3-0 with Manuel Locatelli bagging a brace and Immobile scoring once again.

Italy beat Wales 1-0 in their final group game. Matteo Pessina scored the winner in a match they dominated with 69% possession and 23-3 shots.

Italy Injuries & Team News

Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Alex Meret, Salvatore Sirigu
Defenders: Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Emerson Palmieri, Alessandro Florenzi, Leonardo Spinazzola, Rafael Toloi
Midfielders: Nicolo Barella, Bryan Cristante, Jorginho, Manuel Locatelli, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Stefano Sensi, Marco Verratti
Attackers: Andrea Belotti, Domenico Berardi, Federico Bernardeschi, Federico Chiesa, Ciro Immobile, Lorenzo Insigne, Giacomo Raspadori

Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini remains injured but Roberto Mancini has plenty of options.

Marco Verratti is expected to keep his place next to Jorginho with Manuel Locatelli and Nicolo Barella battling it out for the third spot.

Centre back Giorgio Chiellini was injured against Switzerland. Francesco Acerbi or Alessandro Bastoni should start next to Leonardo Bonucci in central defence.

Alessandro Florenzi is doubtful which could see Giovanni Di Lorenzo start at right back.

Austria Form

Austria had a poor preparation for Euro 2020. They won one of their six previous matches which included a 4-0 home defeat to Denmark in the World Cup qualifiers.

Franco Foda’s side started Euro 2020 with a 3-1 win against North Macedonia. Stefan Lainer, Michael Gregoritsch and Marko Arnautovic all scored in Bucharest.

Austria then suffered a 2-0 defeat against Netherlands. They struggled to create clear cut chances in Amsterdam with one shot on target.

Austria’s last match was a 1-0 win against Ukraine. Christoph Baumgartner opened the scoring in the 21st minute and they did well to restrict Ukraine to one shot on target.

Verdict

Italy are in very impressive form, winning their last 11 outings without conceding a single goal. There is no reason to expect a different result against Austria at Wembley on Saturday night.
