Royal Challengers Bengaluru: England’s World Cup semi-final hero Jacob Bethell is likely to sit out the opener due to the strength of the Royal Challengers top order. Bethell’s route into the side would be by dislodging Phil Salt, who was one of RCB's best players in their championship-winning side last season.

The other option would be for Bethell to replace Tim David or Romario Shepherd in the middle-order, but RCB are likely to start with their stars from last season. Having Bethell on the bench is a good sign of RCB’s potential to defend their title.
