The Knight Riders’ strong start to the season hit a bump when they lost their third match to MI New York, after restricting them to 144/6 off their 20 overs. In reply the Knight Riders collapsed to 103 all out off 17.5 overs.

Andre Russell was on fire with the ball again to peg back MI New York in the closing overs, picking up 4/35 as MI New York battled to score in the closing stages of their innings.

Colin Munro (20 off 18) and Andre Fletcher (44 off 40) got the innings off to a strong start by adding 53 for the first wicket, but with only Matthew Tromp (12) scoring above seven the Knight Riders collapsed to 103 all out off 17.5 overs for a disappointing defeat they should have wrapped up with ease.

Seattle Orcas Form

The Orcas have yet to claim back-to-back wins in what has been something of an inconsistent start to their season. After beating the Washington Freedom by 88 runs they lost to the San Francisco Unicorns by just two wickets in a thrilling last-over finish.

The Orcas’ top three got them off to a great start, with Tim Seifert (32 off 14), Shayan Jahangir (62 off 25) and Matthew Breetzke (51 off 29) all taking the Unicorns bowlers on to post a score of 191 off 19.2 overs.

The Orcas had the Unicorns in trouble at 26/3 but they recovered to scrape home by two wickets with two balls in hand. Marcus Stoinis, Cameron Gannon and Dasun Shanaka each picked up two wickets.
