The Orcas have not enjoyed much success in their last two seasons, losing their last two matches of last season and then losing their high-scoring opener against the Texas Super Kings by six wickets with an over and a half to spare.

The Orcas openers Tim Seifert and Shayan Jahangir got the tournament off with a 191-run opening stand on the way to posting a score of 220/2 against the Super Kings. Seifert (104 off 66 balls) and Shayan Jahangir (78 off 47 balls) starred with the bat.

The Super Kings raced to the win for the loss of just four wickets with nine balls to spare. Jasdeep Singh, Cameron Gannon, Ottneil Baartman and Marcus Stoinis each picked up a wicket, with all but Stoinis going for over 10 runs to the over.
