Last updated: 1 hour ago

Texas Super Kings enter the matchup against Washington Freedom in top form, achieving consecutive victories to claim the table lead. Faf du Plessis and Saiteja Mukkamalla have been standouts, while bowlers Milne and Ferreira contributed significantly in their last win. In contrast, Washington Freedom, last season’s finalists, come off a disappointing performance, collapsing for 139 in a big chase. Their strong batting lineup aims for redemption. The Super Kings are expected to field an unchanged XI; Washington will likely rely on their mainstays for a turnaround.

Head-to-Head

Texas Super Kings have won one and lost two of their last five Major League Cricket matches against Washington Freedom. Two of those five matches were rained-out.

Texas Super Kings Form

After two defeats in a row the Super Kings won their last two matches on the bounce to move to the top of the table.

Adam Milne (2/22) and Donovan Ferreira (3/14) starred with the ball as the Super Kings restricted the defending champs MI New York for just 127/9 off their 20 overs.

The Super Kings made heavy work of hitting their target, getting to 132/4 with an over to spare. Saiteja Mukkamalla (38 off 37), Rilee Rossouw (18 off 23) and Milind Kumar (22 off 17) took the Super Kings to their second win on the bounce.

Washington Freedom Form

Last year’s losing finalists have struggled to close out their opponents twice despite twice scoring over 200. They will be disappointed to have folded for 139 in their last match when chasing the Orcas’ target of 228.

Marco Jansen (3/33) and Ian Holland (2/49) picked up five of the six Orcas wickets to fall as they racked up 227/6 off their 20 overs.

None of the Freedom’s top seven could make it into the 20s, leaving Marco Jansen (20 off 20) and Ian Holland (26 off 19) to lift the Freedom to a disappointing 139 off 16.2 overs.

Team news

The Super Kings side is playing well as a unit and is unlikely to be changed as they look for a third win on the bounce. Washington Freedom will be looking for their strong batting line-up to get among the runs again after their collapse against the Orcas.
