The Proteas impressed during the World Cup where many expected them to struggle. They can count themselves unfortunate to have lost that semi-final to the Aussies, but they did make some big errors at crucial times.

During the World Cup, South Africa were well beaten in the group stage by India. However, that was in India, and in South Africa, the Proteas have a good record against India.

Aiden Markram will captain the side in the absence of Temba Bavuma. The side should be very much the same as for the World Cup, although Kyle Verreynne has been added to the squad.

India Form

India dominated the World Cup a couple of months ago on home soil, winning all their group games and the semi-final against New Zealand.

However, when crunch time came, they lost the final to Australia. Regardless, it still means that India have won 10 of their last 11 ODI fixtures so come into this series in great form.

India have a strong side despite quite a few key players missing. KL Rahul captains the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma while Virat Kohli is also not on tour.
