South Africa Women have won four and lost one of their last five ODIs against Pakistan Women.

South Africa Women Form

South Africa Women hit their fourth ODI win in a row when they outplayed a spirited performance from Pakistan to win the 1st ODI by 37 runs.

The Proteas piled on 260/6 off 41 overs after a delayed start due to rain. Laura Wolvaardt (43) was again in the runs, but it was Sune Luus who was the hero of the innings. Luus scored 93* and shared an 80-run stand for the 4th wicket with Annerie Dercksen (31).

Sinalo Jafta flew past her previous best ODI score of 29 in scoring a whirlwind 57* off 38 balls, including eight fours. Jafta and Luus added an unbroken 90 runs for the seventh wicket to put Pakistan’s batters under huge pressure.

After reducing Pakistan to 5/2 the Proteas had to wait until the end of the 24th wicket to pick up Pakistan’s third wicket after a dangerous partnership put the visitors back in the game.

Nadine de Klerk (2/36, econ 6.00) picked up two of Pakistan’s top four batters and Sune Luus (2/31, econ 5.16) knocked over two of their top six. Tumi Sekhukhune ended with the best figures, taking 3/50 (econ 6.38) to wrap up the tail.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan Women put up a strong fight against South Africa in the 1st ODI of their tour, only to fall 37 runs short in a match reduced to 41 overs.

Pakistan’s bowlers took a hammering as the Proteas raced to 260/6 off their 41 overs. Nashra Sandhu (2/45, econ 5.00) and Syeda Aroob Shah (1/39, econ 4.87) were the pick of the Pakistan bowlers.

Sidra Amin (68 off 69) and Ayesha Zafar (81 off 94) added 131 for the third wicket to rescue Pakistan after the loss of two early wickets. Aliya Riaz chipped in with 32 off 26 balls, but with none of the other batters reaching double figures Pakistan were bowled out for 223 off 38.5 overs.
