South Africa Women Form

South Africa Women won their three-match ODI series against Ireland 3-0 in December, winning by seven wickets, 74 runs and six wickets.

Skipper Laura Wolvaardt has continued her runs feast from last year’s World Cup and has grown into a truly world-class batter. Sune Luus has also been enjoying superb form, scoring 66*, 114, 25 and 32 in her last five matches, along with taking 1/34, 1/52 and 2/45.

Nonkululeko Mlaba is the Proteas’ key bowler at present, picking up 3/43, 4/33, 2/40, 1/16 and 1/22 in her last five matches. Masabata Klaas has developed into a strong wicket-taker, picking up 2/54, 2/14 and 1/32 in her last four matches.

Ayabonga Khaka’s many years of experience have made her a crucial part of the Proteas’ starting XI. In her last five matches she has taken 2/9, 1/49, 3/10 and 1/26. She has a strike-rate of a wicket every 38 balls in ODIs at an economy rate of 4.28.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan Women bounced back with a strong performance in the 3rd T20I against the Proteas to avoid a whitewash, ending the series by losing 2-1. The tourists enjoyed a good warm-up outing against the Emerging South African Women, losing by one wicket after posting 307.

Pakistan’s batters struggled to put runs on the board during the T20I series but they found their feet in their warm-up match against South Africa Women Emerging. Ayesha Zafar (95 off 68) and Sidra Amin (50* off 68) added 130 for the third wicket after Muneeba Ali (24) and Sadaf Shamas (30) got the innings off with a half–century stand for the first wicket.

Natalia Pervaiz (33) and Aliya Riaz (37) kept the runs flowing until Pakistan were bowled out for 307 off 48.1 overs.

Fatima Sana (2/37) and Nashra Sandhu (2/60) knocked over four of the Emerging XI’s top six. Umm-e-Hani sliced through the lower order to pick up 3/37 (econ 5.28), only to lose by just one wicket off 47.4 overs.
