Paarl Royals vs Pretoria Capitals Predictions

The Royals are on a fine run of form and were in a good position against the Super Kings before faulty floodlights ended the match early. Their top order has been patchy, but it’s their bowling that has been on fire, with three bowlers in the top five wicket-takers. The Capitals picked up their second win with a thrilling victory over the Super Giants, but I don’t see them having the firepower to withstand the Royals attack.

Sikandar Raza has been outstanding in his three matches since joining up with the Royals. He took 3/27 and 4/13 in back-to-back wins over MI Cape Town, followed by 2/26 in the abandoned match against the Super Kings. The Capitals were struggling to get their season started but have now won two of their last three completed matches.

Shai Hope is on fire with the bat, leading the runs list with 206 at a strike rate of 158.46. Sherfane Rutherford has smashed 119 runs off just 58 balls (S/R 205.17), along with four wickets at a cost of just six runs apiece.

Gideon Peters has been in good form with the ball, taking 2/15, 1/43, 1/42 and 3/35 in his last four matches at an average of 19.28. He played a key role in the win over the Super Giants, knocking over Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Evan Jones. Lungi Ngidi found his wicket-taking form against the Super Giants, taking 3/39 off his four overs.

The Royals recent run of form owes a lot to the adaptability of Sikandar Raza’s spin bowling.

“It's nice to win the game and know your contribution in a win feels more special. Miller, as a captain, he's always there when you're bowling and he's always calm. It rubs off on the bowlers too. He doesn't speak much but lets his bat and captaincy do the talking. Wonderful to play with him,” said Raza after the win over MI Cape Town.
