Gloucestershire vs Glamorgan  Predictions

Gloucestershire have been inconsistent this season, having failed to string two wins together on the bounce, but have still won four matches and are in fourth place on the South Group table.

Glamorgan have fared far worse, with just two wins so far in a season that has seen them beaten five times to leave them in second-bottom spot on the table.

  • Gloucestershire’s Glenn Phillips has scored 40+ in three of his last five innings.
  • Gloucestershire’s James Bracey is his side’s top runscorer with 207 runs this season.
  • Glamorgan’s Sam Northeast has scored 256 runs this season.

Head to Head

Gloucestershire have won three of the last five matches against Glamorgan. Their last meeting was in early June when Glamorgan reached 158/8 off their 20 overs, David Lloyd top-scoring with 68, while Glenn Phillips picked up 2/22.  James Bracey (63) and Glenn Phillips (40) added the bulk of the runs to get Gloucestershire home with one over in hand.

Gloucestershire Form

Gloucestershire have won two and lost two of their last five matches, with the other match rained-out. While they have four wins and four losses behind them, they have lost two of their last three matches.

In their last match, high-flying Somerset took Gloucestershire’s bowling to task by scoring 184/6 off their 20 overs, Mohammad Amir picking up 2/25. Gloucestershire’s Ryan Higgins (43) and Benny Howell (42) put up a good fight to reach 177/8 off their 20 overs as the visitors fell seven runs short of their hosts.

Gloucestershire Injuries & Team News

Gloucestershire might consider bringing in extra batting strength to give their future run chase’s more legs.

Glamorgan  Form

Glamorgan have lost three of their last five matches, winning just one, with the other match being rained out.

In their last match, Glamorgan bowled superbly to limit Hampshire to just 134/4 off their 20 overs, with Andrew Salter picking up 2/18. Sam Northeast’s 36 was the rock around which Glamorgan’s run-chase was built but there was not enough support for him and Glamorgan were bowled out for 125 with one ball remaining.

Glamorgan  Injuries & Team News

Glamorgan might well offer some second team players a run in the hope of beefing up their batting.

Verdict

Gloucestershire’s record this season should give them the edge over a Glamorgan side that has really battled to stand up to their opponents’ totals. I am backing Gloucestershire’s Glenn Phillips to continue his fine form with the bat by scoring 50+.

Glamorgan’s Sam Northeast is a good bet to get among the runs, and I’m backing him to score 30+.
