Australia vs India Women T20 World Cup Predictions - Aussies to end India’s semi-final hopes

Editor
Last updated: 1 hour ago

Australia Women head into the clash against India Women as favorites, showing unbeatable form throughout the tournament. Their comprehensive victories and impactful performances from Georgia Voll, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Molineux set a high bar. India, despite strong individual contributions from the likes of Shree Charani and Smriti Mandhana, face immense pressure after a loss to South Africa. The recommendation is to back Australia for the win, with Georgia Voll and Shree Charani tipped to shine individually.

  • India’s loss to South Africa puts them in danger of missing out on the semis.
  • No rain and warm weather should make for a runs-heavy pitch at Lord’s.

Australia vs India Women Predictions

Australia are in incredible form and look like a team that can’t be beaten. India’s inability to close out South Africa suggests they don’t have the squad strength to challenge a strong unit like Australia.

  • Australia Women’s Georgia Voll has scored 77*, 45* & 39 in her last 5 innings.
  • Australia Women’s Ellyse Perry hit 36, 19* & 71 in her 4 World Cup innings.
  • Australia Women’s Sophie Molineux has figures of 2/17, 2/14 & 2/6 in her 4 matches.
  • India Women’s Smriti Mandhana has scored 68 & 75 in her 4 innings in the World Cup.
  • India Women’s Richa Ghosh has scored 68, 34 & 20* in her last 5 innings.
  • India Women’s Shree Charani has taken 3/21, 4/19, 3/24 & 2/21 in her 4 matches.

Head-to-Head

Australia Women have won three and lost two of their last five T20Is against India Women, although India’s two wins have come in the last three matches.

Australia Women Form

Australia have won three of their matches in the tournament by between 65 to 113 runs, with the other match being a nine-wicket win over Bangladesh.

After losing Beth Mooney for a first ball duck, Georgia Voll (39 off 28) and Ellyse Perry (71 off 48) added 100 for the second wicket in just more than nine overs. Annabel Sutherland (27 off 18) and Nicola Carey (26* off 13) hit out late to lift Australia to 199/7 off their 20 overs.

Australia then rolled Pakistan for just 86 runs off 13.4 overs, with Ellyse Perry (2/9), Annabel Sutherland (2/12) and Sophie Molineux (2/6) doing the damage with the ball.

India Women Form

India have three big wins in the tournament but lost to South Africa by six wickets, which has put them under huge pressure to beat Australia to make it into the semi-finals as the Proteas are likely to beat Bangladesh in their match earlier in the day.

In their last match India restricted Bangladesh to 136/8 off their 20 overs, with Shree Charani (2/21) and Radha Yadav (3/28) doing the damage with the ball.

India raced to the win off 16.5 overs for the loss of five wickets. Shafali Verma top-scored with 53 off 34 balls to follow up scores of 55 and 31 in her two previous matches. Jemimah Rodrigues (26) and Yastika Bhatia (23) offered her support in the run chase.

Team news

Phoebe Litchfield is fit and firing and likely to be back in the side to take on India. India will probably keep Renuka Thakur and Radha Yadav in their side after the win over Bangladesh as they both have good playing records against Australia.
