Australia vs West Indies Women Predictions

Australia are in title-winning form and have the squad to smash the West Indies. They have shown cracks against South Africa and India that suggest they are beatable, but the West Indies would need to bring their A-game to The Oval.

  • Australia Women’s Ellyse Perry has scored 71 & 56 in her last 2 knocks.
  • Australia Women’s Ashleigh Gardner scored 58 & 53* in her last 2 innings.
  • Australia Women’s Sophie Molineux took 2/17, 2/14, 2/6 & 2/46 in 5 matches.
  • West Indies Women’s Shemaine Campbelle has scored 90*, 36 & 20 in 5 knocks.
  • West Indies Women’s Chinelle Henry scored 51* & 27* in her last 2 knocks.
  • West Indies Women’s Ashmini Munisar took 2/42 & 2/28 in her last 2 matches.

Head-to-Head

Australia Women have won four and lost one of their last five T20Is against the West Indies Women, including the last four on the bounce.

Australia Form

Australia completed their group stage commitments by beating India by six wickets with an over to spare in a thrilling clash at Lord’s. The win left them at the top of Group 1 with five wins from five matches.

Sophie Molineux was the only Aussie bowler to pick up a wicket as India posted 170/4 in their final group match at Lord’s, with one unfortunate run out and a batter retiring taking care of the other two wickets. Molineux took 2/46 on the back of picking up two wickets in three of her previous four matches.

Beth Mooney (22) and Phoebe Litchfield (24) added 50 for the second wicket before a 100-run stand between Ellyse Perry (56 off 38) and Ashleigh Gardner (53 off 29) took the Aussies to the brink of victory.

West Indies Women Form

The West Indies got off to a powerful start to their World Cup campaign by beating defending champions New Zealand in their opener, followed by wins over Scotland and Sri Lanka. They ended their group stage commitments with back-to-back defeats to England and Ireland, scoring under 150 in both matches.

Chinelle Henry followed up her 51* against England with 27* against Ireland in her last 2 knocks, but Shemaine Campbelle has been their top scoring batter, hitting 90* in the opener against New Zealand. Stafanie Taylor has shown form with the bat, scoring 47*, 27* and 16 in her three World Cup knocks.

Aaliyah Alleyne took 4/27 and 3/11 in the first two matches in the tournament while Ashmini Munisar has figures of 2/42 and 2/28 in her last two matches.

Team news

Both sides are well settled and unlikely to be changed, despite the West Indies losing their last two matches. Australia are looking powerful although they had to work hard for their win over India in their final group match.
