Editor
Last updated: 42 minutes ago

In the upcoming T20I matchup, Scotland women hold a slight advantage over Ireland women, having won their last three head-to-head matches and displaying strong form in recent games. Notable performances from Kathryn Bryce and Chloe Abel for Scotland, and Orla Prendergast for Ireland, make them key players to watch. Both sides have shown resilience, but the recommendation is for Scotland to clinch the victory, supported by standout individual contributions. Expect a closely-fought contest with Scotland edging ahead.

Scotland Women Form

After picking up three wins in a row Scotland lost to Bangladesh by 34 runs, but they bounced back the next day with a 24-run win over the Netherlands.

In a reduced overs match Scotland beat the Netherlands in their last warm-up match. Scotland scored 124/3 off their reduced 12 overs. Katherine Fraser (29 off 17), Kathryn Bryce (63 off 33) and Sarah Bryce (23* off 12) chipped in with valuable runs.

Chloe Abel was the best of the Scotland bowlers, taking 2/8 at an economy rate of just 4.00 runs to the over. Kathryn Bryce, Olivia Bell and Priyanaz Chatterji each took one wicket in the win.

Ireland Women Form

Ireland bounced back from an eight-wicket defeat to the West Indies by claiming back-to-back wins over the West Indies and then Pakistan.

Ava Canning (2/11, econ 2.75) and Orla Prendergast (2/26, econ 6.50) starred with the ball in the win over the West Indies as they reduced the former world champs to 141/8 off their 20 overs.

Rain ended the match with Ireland on 99/5 off 14.1 overs, giving them the win on the DLS method by just one run. Orla Prendergast was the only batter to score over 12, ending on 71* off 46 balls with 12 boundaries.

Team news

Ireland Head Coach Lloyd Tennant was upbeat after his team completed their World Cup preparations.

“We’ve had two great warm-up matches. The win over Bangladesh was a particularly good performance. I don't think there's a lot between the teams really. Both sides played some good cricket, but we've probably shut the game down a bit quicker with our seam bowlers – particularly Ava Canning,” said Tennant.

“As for the South Africa game the other day, they've obviously got a lot of quality players but we felt that the last time we played them in South Africa there was a gulf between us, but now we seem to be getting closer to them. We've not closed that gap yet, but we felt we owned the ground a bit better, we weren't as nervous and we were a bit more positive playing against their bowlers and bowling at their batters."

Scotland squad: Kathryn Bryce (c), Chloe Abel, Olivia Bell, Sarah Bryce, Darcey Carter, Priyanaz Chatterji, Gabriella Fontenla, Katherine Fraser, Kirstie Gordon, Ailsa Lister, Maisie Maceira, Abtaha Maqsood, Megan McColl, Rachel Slater, Pippa Sproul.

Ireland squad: Gaby Lewis ©, Orla Prendergast, Ava Canning, Christina Coulter Reilly, Alana Dalzell, Georgina Dempsey, Amy Hunter, Arlene Kelly, Louise Little, Aimee Maguire, Lara McBride, Cara Murray, Leah Paul, Rebecca Stokell, Alice Tector.
