Monank Patel (36 off 22), Shayan Jahangir (20 off 14) and Saiteja Mukkamalla (79 off 51) all starred with the bat to lift the USA to 159/4 in the 17th over ahead of Ranjane’s big-hitting in the last three overs.

Louren Steenkamp (29 off 20) and Jan Frylinck (22 off 15) got Namibia off to a flying start, adding 33 for the first wicket inside four overs. The rest of the Namibia batters failed to fire as Namibia lost 10 wickets for just 83 runs to lose by 93 runs.

USA captain Monank Patel admitted during the post-match interviews that he was extremely happy with his team’s performance in their win over the Netherlands.

“Batting first wasn't easy as the wicket was holding, but we showed the intent. Initially we wanted to look at the pitch but once set we wanted to make sure we punished the bad balls. We showed the right intent and put them under pressure,” said Patel.

Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus was down-hearted after losing their opening two matches.

“After the powerplay we thought dew might make bowling tough and we had a chance. but that spell from Varun broke the back of our chase. We have a lot of firepower we but aren't laying a foundation - we aren't playing at our 100%. The quality of India's bowling showed as overs six to 10 broke the back of our innings,” admitted Erasmus during his post-match TV interview.
