Zimbabwe vs India Preview

India should be too good for Zimbabwe but they will have to tread carefully. I am backing Virat Kohli to score big considering he has hit 50+ runs in three of his last four T20I innings.

  • Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza scored 40 runs in his last match.
  • India have won their last 2 matches against Zimbabwe.
  • India have won 3 of their last 4 matches.
  • India’s Virat Kohli has scored 82*, 62* & 64* runs in 3 of his last 4 innings.

Head to Head

India have won three of their last five T20I matches against Zimbabwe. They have however not played each other since 20116.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe can no longer qualify for the semi-final but they will be pleased with their World Cup to date. Unfortunately for them, they failed to kick on after upsetting the odds by beating Pakistan. Had they managed a win over Netherlands they would still be in with a shout.

The Zimbabwe batsmen failed in their last match against Netherlands, only managing to score 117 runs. Sikandar Raza scored 40 runs but other than Sean Williams’ 28 runs no other batsmen scored more than 10.

Netherlands chased the target with ease to win by five wickets.

Zimbabwe & Team News

The Zimbabweans are likely to remain unchanged.

India Form

India are in prime position to top the table in Group 2. They just need to beat Zimbabwe and they will top the table.

The Indian side won their last match by five runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method against Bangladesh. It was an exceptionally tight contest where India scored 184 runs batting first. Virat Kohli top scored with 64 runs while KL Rahul found form with 50 runs.

The Tigers got off to a blistering start but India pulled it back after the return from rain. It was quite controversial but India got the win they needed to secure qualification.

India Team News

It remains a crucial game for India so they are unlikely to make too many changes.
