In a monster 14-horse field two runners are standing out for me - Magic Declaration and Two Tigers. I see these two runners taking it to the wire, but my backing goes with the 3-yr-old bay colt Magic Declaration.
Two Tigers is backed at 5.00 after two strong last runs of second place and third place, but the new kid on the block ran third in his first run 34 days ago after being stuck at the back for the first third of the run. He turned on the turbo boost at the end to fly through to nose third place. I like that late burst of pace so I’m in his corner for this race.
Race 2 – Nicolson Landing (2)

Nicolson Landing looks to have the form and the legs to leave the other 11 runners in her dust in this race. She has eight career runs with two second places and two thirds, so I like her consistency. Her last five finishes have been 2-3-3-6-2, with her last run showing an incredible performance to pull from the back of the pack to finish a close second.
Knockin’ Boots (6.00), Secret Life (6.00), Takeachanceonme (6.00) and Lanteri (8.00) are all high in the rankings for this run, but the 4-yr-old bay filly Nicolson Landing has consistency on her side that should take her home with a length and change.
Race 5 – Sikeloi (4)

After finishing second and then claiming a win last December and January in her third and fourth races, Sikeloi then suffered a bumpy February and March running 7th and 8th in her two runs.
After a 56-day break she powered back to claim second spot in May, and with a 48-day break after that I can’t not back her. I’m worried about Anahita (5.50), whose last three runs have been 3-3-1 and Rosy Lemon (9.00) who has placed 2-2-8-2-6 coming into this meet.
Pretty Analia (9.50) also offers a threat after two wins in her last four runs, but the old girl sandwiched in a 14th place and a 7th place inbetween those wins, so I’m worried about the 7-yr-old bay mare’s consistency. Sikeloi ran a magnificent run in her last race only to be nosed on the line, so I think she will be out for revenge.
Race 8 – Staggerwing (7)
Jockey: Callan Murray
Trainer: Mike Kock
The day ends with eight runners pushing for the win, but I see Staggerwing having the power to hold off a challenge from Power of Pearls (5.50) and Arilena (9.50). The 3-yr-old bay filly Staggerwing won her last race after powering through at the end of the sprint that showed her power.
Staggerwing has just four runs under her belt, placing an impressive 2-2-4-1, so she looks like a star in the making. A 43-day break ahead of this race should ensure that her tank is full and ready to fly.
