Last updated: 3 hours ago

The T20 Blast on July 8, 2026, brings high-stakes matches as teams fight for playoff spots. Leicestershire and Durham both need vital wins, with Durham's Matthew Potts in hot wicket-taking form and Ashton Turner of Leicestershire tipped to struggle with the bat. Surrey look to secure second place, relying on Jason Roy’s recent batting hot streak, while Sussex's rough season continues. In Glamorgan vs Northants, Glamorgan are favored to win, as Northants might relax after already qualifying for playoffs. Key player picks and match predictions highlight betting value and team momentum.

T20 Blast Predictions - 8 July 2026

Leicestershire vs Durham

Both sides need at least two wins from three to hope to finish third for the chance of slipping into the playoffs. Durham are having a nightmare with five group defeats in the T20 Blast on the bounce, while Leicestershire have lost their last three group matches.

Durham’s Matthew Potts has been in superb form with the ball, taking 17 wickets in his last two Championship matches, followed by 3/18 and 3/23 in his last three T20 matches, so he’s worth backing to pick up some sticks. Leicestershire’s Ashton Turner has three ducks and a 32 in his last four T20 Blast innings, so I’m backing him to be low on runs again.

Surrey vs Sussex

Sussex are bottom of the South Group after being hit with seven defeats in nine matches, so they are done for this year. Surrey are in second place but level on points with third-placed Essex so will be pushing hard for a win to try and cement second place.

Surrey’s Jason Roy has been on a roll with the bat, hitting scores of 39, 40, 63 and 65 in his last six knocks and looks good to be in the runs again. Josh Philippe is also worth backing after scoring 52 and 61* in his last three innings.

Glamorgan vs Northamptonshire

Northants are set for the playoffs but Glamorgan are in a big battle for second spot but are one win behind the two sides ahead of them. Northants are backed to win at odds of 1.76 compared to Glamorgan’s 1.96.

Both sides lost their last match, but Northants took a 105-run hammering from Somerset and, as they are through to the playoffs and Glamorgan fighting for their lives, I’m backing them to pull off something of an upset against a Northants side that might just be coasting.

Verdict

Durham’s Matthew Potts is backed to pick up wickets, while Leicestershire Ashton Turner is my pick to be dismissed for a low score. Jason Roy is a good bet to score runs for Surrey against Sussex. Glamorgan are backed to beat Northants to stay alive in their group.
