The Cheetahs have begun their 2024 Currie Cup campaign well with three wins from their opening four games. However, their last two performances have been concerning.

As favourites to defend their title, the Cheetahs put 80 on the Griffons in round one before defeating Western Province 37-17 at home. That was followed by a 25-13 loss at the Bulls in a performance the Cheetahs will want to forget.

Last week, after putting 80 points past the Griffons in round one, the Cheetahs only managed a 47-45 win against the same opposition.

The Bulls are top of the Currie Cup table after four rounds. They have won all four of their fixtures.

On the opening weekend, the Bulls beat Western Province 30-25 in Cape Town before thrashing the Griffons 52-10 away from home. A fortnight ago, the Bulls beat one of the title challengers, Cheetahs 25-13 at home.

Last weekend, the Bulls were again too good at home, beating Western Province 50-34. This week should offer the Bulls a very big test away from home.
