Head to Head

Auckland and Wellington have each won six matches in 12 meetings in the National Provincial Championship.

Auckland Form

Auckland scored three converted tries in the first half against Canterbury last weekend, but trailed by five points at the break.

Auckland added a converted try and a penalty in the second stanza, but it was not enough to close the points gap, losing 38-31 away from home.

In 2024, Auckland faced Wellington at home in the NPC, losing 29-21 to their opponents.

Auckland struggled to win at home during the latter stages of last season, losing five of their last six matches, and they have lost three consecutive times at home to Wellington.

Wellington Form

Wellington scored two converted tries in the first half against Hawke's Bay last weekend, but conceded too many points to trail 31-14 at half-time.

The Wellington Lions added three tries and two conversions in the second half but came away empty-handed, losing 52-33 to Hawke's Bay at home.

In 2025, Wellington had no trouble in their home match against Auckland in last season's NPC, winning 36-17.

Wellington conceded too many points in their season opener, but will start confidently against Auckland, having defeated their opponents in five consecutive times National Provincial Championship matches.
