Southland scored two penalties in the first half against Counties Manukau at home last weekend, but were left trailing by 16 points at the break.

Southland failed to add any points to their tally during the second half, as Counties Manukau scored six tries and three conversions to win 64-10.  

Southland lost the first away game of the season, 22-17 to Northland, before defeating Bay of Plenty 30-25 and Waikato 25-10. 

Southland are 12th in the National Provincial Championship table with 14 points from seven matches.

Southland come into this clash with Wellington on the back of two heavy defeats, and they have yet to register a win against their opponents.
