Zebre have enjoyed a decent season and beat Edinburgh earlier this year, however, I am backing the Scottish side to get a crucial URC win this weekend. The handicap is certainly in play.

These two met in February when Zebre beat Edinburgh 22-17 in Scotland. However, Edinburgh were missing several internationals in that encounter.

Zebre have faced many challenges this season, particularly off the field, but despite being second from bottom, it has been one of their best seasons yet. The Italian minnows have got five wins in 15 games and sit on 27 points.

During late January and early February, Zebre took advantage of teams missing international starts to the Six Nations, claiming three straight wins. They beat Edinburgh and Ulster away and the Dragons at home.

That was followed by a one-point loss in Durban against the Sharks before the Bulls thrashed them a week later. Last weekend, Zebre defended superbly at home against the defending champions, Glasgow. They lost the game 14-6 but the performance was very strong overall.

Zebre are not expected to make too many changes. They only have pride left to play for but having already beaten Edinburgh this season, they will be looking for another home success.

Edinburgh Form

Edinburgh have been disappointing in the URC this season but they still have a chance to make the top eight. They are currently 11th with six wins and nine losses, but they are only three points off the top eight and four points off fifth place.

Despite their below par performance this season in the URC, Edinburgh do still have a Challenge Cup semi-final to worry about in early May. They may be tempted to rest players this weekend, but a defeat will almost put them out of reach for a top eight finish.

Last week, Edinburgh lost 18-17 at home to the Sharks after beating the Bulls 34-28 in the Challenge Cup quarter-final.

The selection will be interesting with a Challenge Cup semi-final at home against Bath next weekend. I do feel Edinburgh will rest a couple players but not as many as they would ideally like.
