Blues vs Chiefs Predictions - Blues can upset the odds at Eden Park in Super Rugby clash against Chiefs

In a highly anticipated Super Rugby clash, the Chiefs are favored to win against the Blues in Auckland, holding a -4.5 handicap. Despite the Chiefs' recent superiority, having won three of their last four matches against the Blues, the Auckland side's end-of-season form in 2025 and solid pre-season achievements suggest a closer contest. The Blues, who finished sixth last season, showed resilience by climbing the rankings towards the end. With both teams having strong lineups, the Blues are predicted to challenge the Chiefs' dominance, possibly even securing a win within the handicap at Eden Park.

Blues vs Chiefs Predictions

The Chiefs are favourites to win in Auckland with a -4.5 handicap. Those odds look short for me given the Blues impressive end in 2025 and their decent pre-season form. I am backing the hosts get within that handicap and perhaps win.

  • Blues have won 3 of their last 4 Super Rugby matches.
  • Chiefs were the Super Rugby runners-up in 2025.
  • Chiefs have won 3 of their last 4 matches against the Blues.

Head to Head

Chiefs have beaten the Blues in three of their last four Super Rugby encounters.

Blues Form

The Blues finished sixth in the 2025 Super Rugby tournament, a rather disappointing campaign for them. They won six and lost eight of their 14 matches along the way.

After a slow start in 2025, the Auckland outfit did recover to climb the table, winning three of their last four games in the regular season.

Chiefs Form

The Chiefs topped the 2025 Super Rugby table after the round robin stage but unfortunately suffered defeat in their first playoff games. Fortunately, because they were top, it wasn’t a knockout fixture, but it did mean they had to play the final away to the Crusaders.

That turned out to be a crucial result as the Chiefs lost 16-14 in the final to the Crusaders. This season, the Chiefs are favourites for the crown, but they face a very tough opening fixture in Auckland.
