The Highlanders and Hurricanes bring their Super Rugby Aotearoa seasons to a close at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Saturday. The Crusaders have already clinched the title, but the Hurricanes will want that sixth win in a row in Dunedin.

Highlanders Form & News

The Highlanders have won just two games all campaign. Those two victories in Super Rugby Aotearoa came against the Chiefs, who finished rock bottom.

The biggest issue for the Highlanders has been their inability to play their game for 80 minutes. In their last match, they held a 22-13 lead with 20 minutes left against the Crusaders, but ended up losing 32-22 in Dunedin. It was a heartbreaking result given that the Highlanders had given it their all for an hour.

The previous week, the Highlanders lost 32-21 at home to the Blues, while earlier in the campaign they went down 17-11 to the Hurricanes.

The Highlanders were brilliant for the first 60 minutes last week and won’t make too many changes for this clash. Scrum-half Aaron Smith will be the key player once again along with fly-half Josh Ioane.

Hurricanes Form & News

The Hurricanes are currently on a five-game unbeaten run in Super Rugby Aotearoa. Sadly, the run was a little too late, as the Crusaders clinched the title last weekend with their win over the Highlanders.

The current Canes streak started with a 26-18 victory at the Chiefs. That result was followed by a 17-11 win over the Highlanders at home. The Blues then went down 29-27 to the Hurricanes, before the Crusaders’ home winning streak came to an end when the Canes’ beat them 34-32.

Last time out, the Hurricanes took down the Chiefs 32-19 in Hamilton.

The Hurricanes have a full squad to pick from.

Highlanders vs Hurricanes Head to Head

Highlanders vs Hurricanes Odds

The Highlanders are priced at 2.33 to win, while the Hurricanes are available at 1.62. A draw pays 23.00.

The handicap is set at 3 points.

Highlanders vs Hurricanes Match Up

Both sides love to toss the ball around, so we could see quite a few points under the roof at the Forsyth Barr Stadium, as the weather won’t have any effect. The Hurricanes are the better side on paper and should have too much for the men from Dunedin.
