Moana vs Rebels Predictions

Both of these two sides won last weekend after losing in the opening round. It should be a tight one, but surprisingly, the Rebels have been given a -4 handicap. I fancy Moana to upset the odds in this one.

Rebels have only won 1 of their last 8 matches away from home.

Head to Head

Rebels have won their last two games against Moana. They have scored at least four tries in each of those games.

Moana Form

Moana will be hoping for a stronger season than 2023 where they only won one round robin match all season. There were positive signs though with a few narrow defeats.

While we are early in the season, Moana are already showing signs that they could be far better this time around. In round one, Moana lost 35-21 away to the Highlanders. Despite defeat their performance was promising though.

Last week, Moana pulled off a stunning win, beating Fijian Drua 39-36 in Melbourne. As expected, it was a cracking affair with plenty of running and offloads. It was similar to last season’s clash, but this time Moana came out on the winning side.

Moana Injuries & Team News

Moana are unlikely to make any unforced changes from the side that featured last weekend.

Rebels Form

The Rebels started the season poorly in round one as they were thrashed 30-3 by the Brumbies at home. While it is early in the season, it was already clear that vast improvement was needed.

Last weekend the Rebels did manage a victory, beating the Western Force 48-34 on home soil. It was a strong performance and an exciting game, but it was between the two weakest sides from Australia.

That said, it was still a crucial win and a result from which the Rebels can take some confidence.

Rebels Injuries & Team News

The Rebels will want to build on their victory last weekend. I don’t foresee many changes for them.

Verdict

Moana Pasifika v Rebels

I am backing Moana to upset the odds and get back-to-back wins in Super Rugby.
