Cameroon vs Rwanda Predictions
This is a tough match to call. Cameroon have already qualified but are formidable at home and won’t want to lose their unbeaten record on their own ground.
Rwanda need to win to have any chance of qualifying but they are very goal-shy and don’t tend to do well on their travels. I am tipping a home win.
- Cameroon have won 12 of their last 14 home matches (Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers).
- Cameroon have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 6 home matches (Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers).
- Rwanda have lost 4 of their last 5 away matches (Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers).
- Rwanda have scored 1 goal in their last 5 matches (Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers).
Head to Head
Cameroon hold a 3-0 advantage over Rwanda across their previous four meetings with one draw.
The two teams last played each other in November 2019 as Cameroon won 1-0 away in Rwanda.
Cameroon Form
Cameroon drew 0-0 with Cape Verde at home in their match in Africa Cup of Nations qualification before winning 1-0 away in Rwanda. A 4-1 win against Mozambique at home followed being a 2-0 away win against the same opponents.
Cameroon then reached the semi-final in the CHAN tournament before they lost 4-0 to Morocco with only allowed locally-based players.
Their last match saw a 3-1 away defeat to Cape Verde but other results in the group meant that Cameroon secured their place in the AFCON with a game to spare.
Cameroon Injuries & Team News
Cameroon coach Toni Conceiçao is able to call upon Fulham midfielder Franck Zambo Anguissa for this game. He missed the Cape Verde defeat due to COVID-19 regulations in the UK but he can feature in this one.
The coach is without several players who were not released by their European clubs in Defender Harold Moukoudi and striker Stéphane Bahoken. National captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting misses out as his callup was not communicated to him.
Rwanda Form
Rwanda sit third in their qualification group and know that anything less than a win means they won’t qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. Even a victory will only be enough if Mozambique beat Cape Verde.
Rwanda started their qualification with a 2-0 away defeat to Mozambique and a 1-0 home loss to Cameroon. They then drew 0-0 twice with Cape Verde, first on the road and then at home.
Their last match saw a 1-0 home win against Mozambique to keep qualification hopes alive.
Rwanda Injuries & Team News
Rwanda selected 31 players for his FIFA break with 24 of those based in Rwanda. Defender Thierry Manzi will miss this match after an accumulation of yellow cards. Goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera missed the last match due to suspension but returns for this one.
Midfielder Kevin Muhire and defender Abdul Rwatubyaye will not feature as their club sides refused to release them.

Verdict
I am giving Cameroon the edge at home in this one. It should be a very tight match with limited scoring opportunities. I'm backing the hosts to win to nil.
