Gabon vs Ivory Coast Predictions
Gabon have been disappointing at the tournament, but they are still a solid outfit. However, with qualification on the line, I fancy Ivory Coast for a narrow victory.

- Gabon have conceded 8 goals in their last 3 matches.
- Gabon drew 0-0 in their last match against Ivory Coast.
- Ivory Coast have won 4 of their last 6 matches.
Head to Head
Gabon and Ivory Coast were in the same qualification group for the 2026 Fifa World Cup. Ivory Coast won their home game 1-0 while the two side drew 0-0 in Gabon in September 2025.
Gabon Form
Gabon have arguably been the biggest disappointment of the Africa Cup of Nations to date. They came into the tournament having just missed out on World Cup qualification after a stellar qualification round where they pushed Ivory Coast to the last game.
In their opening game, Gabon lost 1-0 to Cameroon, not a terrible result as they were at the very least competitive, missing a few key chances. However, last time out, Gabon inexplicably lost 3-2 to Mozambique in a shock result.
Gabon went t2-0 down in the 42nd minute before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-1 just before the break. In their push for goals, Gabon left holes at the back which allowed Mozambique to make it 3-1 in the 52nd minute.
Alex Mouchetou-Moussounda pulled one back in the 76th minute but couldn’t find an equaliser in the remaining time. Gabon had the better of the match with 10 shots on target, so they will be disappointed with the final result.
Ivory Coast Form
Ivory Coast are looking to defend the AFCON title and have been decent in the first two games, without ever really looking dominant.
In their opening fixture, Ivory Coast struggled to overcome Mozambique, eventually winning the game 1-0 thanks to Manchester United’s Amad Diallo in the 49th minute. Diallo was on target in the 51st minute again against Cameroon but Ivory Coast relinquished the lead just five minutes later.
The match ended in a very competitive 1-1 draw which means both sides are fighting it out for top spot going into the final round of group games.
Gabon vs Ivory Coast Team News
Gabon: Gabon will want a statement result against Ivory Coast after disappointing in their last outing. I expect a few changes to their side.
Ivory Coast: We may see some fresh legs for the defending champions, but I don’t see key players being rested. Defeat could see them drop to third place on the table.
Verdict
Gabon have been way off their best, so an Ivory Coast victory is backed.
