Guinea vs Kenya Predictions - Guinea to retain unbeaten home record against Kenya

Guinea hosts Kenya in a crucial AFCON 2027 qualifier after losing their opener to South Africa. Kenya, already qualified as co-hosts, travel without captain Michael Olunga. Historically, the home side always wins when these teams meet, and Guinea boasts a strong home record against Kenya. Despite missing several key players, Guinea is backed to secure all three points in Conakry. Kenya brings good form but has never won away to Guinea. The recommendation is a home win for Guinea, potentially to nil.

Guinea vs Kenya Predictions

Guinea host Kenya in Conakry on Thursday as they look to recover from defeat in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Guinea lost 2-1 away to South Africa on Saturday, while Kenya needed a late equaliser to secure a 1–1 draw at home against Eritrea.

Kenya are already guaranteed a place at AFCON 2027 as co-hosts and travel without captain Michael Olunga. Guinea have an excellent home record against Kenya and will be desperate for three points after losing their opening qualifier. Guinea to win is the selection.

  • Guinea have won all four previous home matches against Kenya.
  • Guinea have scored in seven of their eight previous meetings with Kenya.
  • Guinea have lost their last three internationals.
  • Kenya are unbeaten in their last four internationals.
  • Kenya have won four and lost four of their eight previous matches against Guinea.
  • Kenya have never won away to Guinea.

Head to Head

Guinea and Kenya have met eight times, with each country winning four matches and none ending in a draw.

Home advantage has played a major role in the fixture, with the home side winning all eight previous meetings.

The countries last met during qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Kenya won 2–0 in Nairobi before Guinea claimed a 3–2 victory in Conakry four months later.

Guinea Form

Guinea come into the match on a run of three consecutive defeats.

They drew 1–1 against Niger in November 2025 before starting 2026 with a 2-2 draw against Togo.

Guinea then suffered successive 1–0 friendly defeats against Benin and Northern Ireland before beginning their AFCON qualifying campaign away to South Africa on Saturday.

Seydouba Cissé equalised for Guinea after Ime Okon had given South Africa the lead, but Samukele Kabini scored the winner in the 77th minute to secure a 2–1 victory for Bafana Bafana.

Kenya Form

Kenya began their AFCON qualifying campaign with a disappointing 1–1 draw against Eritrea in Nairobi.

Eritrea took the lead in the first half and looked set for an upset before Ryan Ogam equalised three minutes from time.

Kenya had enjoyed some encouraging results before the qualifier. They beat Grenada 3–0 in March before drawing 1–1 with Estonia, with Estonia winning the resulting penalty shootout.

A 1–1 draw away to Lesotho followed in June before Kenya won the return match 4–0 three days later.

They are now unbeaten in four matches in 90 minutes.

Team News

Guinea: Paulo Duarte recalled Ilaix Moriba, Madiou Keïta and Saïdou Sow for the opening qualifiers, while Aboubacar Keïta received his first senior call-up. Serhou Guirassy is available and featured against South Africa. Several established players are missing from the squad, including Naby Keïta, Mohamed Mady Camara, Mohamed Bayo, Morgan Guilavogui and Issiaga Sylla.

Kenya: Captain Michael Olunga was initially selected but was subsequently excused from the camp after experiencing tightness following his return from a serious pelvic injury. Richard Odada and Jonah Ayunga are also unavailable. Ryan Ogam, who came off the bench to equalise against Eritrea, is expected to remain an important attacking option for Benni McCarthy. Manzur Okwaro had a minor issue against Eritrea but is expected to be available.

Verdict

Guinea are backed to win this home AFCON qualifier against Kenya. Win to nil is on the cards.
