Ivory Coast Form

Ivory Coast started the Africa Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau. They then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria and slip to third in Group A.

The Elephants had 68% possession and 22-10 shots against Equatorial Guinea but somehow lost 4-0. It was enough to sneak into the Round of 16.

Emerse Faé’s side looked gone when they trailed Senegal 1-0 with time running out. Franck Kessié’s late spot kick took it to extra time before they won the penalty shootout.

Ivory Coast were involved in an incredible quarter-final clash against Mali after Yahia Fofana saved an early penalty. Odilon Kossounou was sent off and they fell 1-0 behind before Simon Adingra equalised in the 90th minute, Oumar Diakité scoring deep into extra time.

DR Congo drew all three group stage matches at AFCON, starting with a 1-1 draw against Zambia after having 25-3 shots.

The Leopards drew 1-1 against Morocco before a 0-0 draw with Tanzania.

Sébastien Desabre’s side earned another draw against Egypt in the Round of 16. Meschack Elia opened the scoring in a 1-1 draw, the game going all the way to penalties where they won the shootout.

DR Congo picked up their first win in the quarter-finals after falling behind against Guinea. Chancel Mbemba equalised before the break, Yoane Wissa and Arthur Masuaku scoring in the second half.

Verdict

Ivory Coast and DR Congo have only won one game each at the Africa Cup of Nations. I am expecting a close match to end in a draw, BTTS the best bet in the semi-finals.
