Mamelodi Sundowns are the only South African team still in the competition. They finished second in Group D and could only face one of the other groups' winner, so either holders Pyramids, fellow Egyptian giants Al Ahly or Malian club Stade Malien.

Miguel Cardoso’s side have club Stade Malien in the last eight. Should they progress on aggregate, Sundowns would face Esperance of Tunisia or Al Ahly in the semi-finals.
