Comoros and Mali are set to face off in the ongoing AFCON tournament. Comoros have failed to score in the tournament and are struggling for form, evident from their recent performances, including a loss against Morocco and a draw with Zambia. Mali, on the other hand, is in better shape, having recently defeated Comoros in FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Mali aims to secure a firm position in the Round of 16 with a strong performance against a weaker Comoros side. Predictions strongly favor Mali, highlighting their superior form and tactical advantage.

Comoros have yet to find the back of the net in the tournament and seem to be struggling for confidence. Mali should have too much quality.

  • Comoros have lost 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • Comoros have failed to score in their last 2 matches.
  • Mali have won 3-0 in 2 matches against Comoros.
  • Mali have won by 2+ goals in 3 of their last 5 competitive matches.

  • Lassine Sinayoko has scored 5 goals in his last 4 matches.

Head to Head

Mali recently played Comoros twice in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, winning both games 3-0.

Comoros Form

Comoros failed to qualify for the World Cup and lost all three group stage games in Arab Cup.

The Coelacanths haven’t been able to improve at AFCON where they are yet to score a goal. Yannick Pandor saved a penalty against Morocco but it wasn’t enough, ending with 0.31-1.93 xG in a 2-0 defeat.

Stefano Cusin’s side were involved in a dour 0-0 draw against Zambia on Friday. Both teams had 10 shots but only one of those was on target, neither side able to get over 0.50 xG.
Cusin remained positive despite his team unable to find a goal, saying: "We managed to contain a very strong Morocco and took a point from Zambia.

"Against Mali, we face a team we have never beaten. My players are young, but I ask them to think like a big team. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain."

Comoros Predicted Line Up & Team News

Comoros (4-3-1-2) Yannick Pandor; Said Bakari, Kenan Toibibou, Ahmed Soilihi, Ismael Boura; Zaydou Youssouf, Yacine Bourhane; Myziane Maolida, Youssouf Mchangama, Faiz Selamani; Rafiki Said

Faiz Selemani could start here in an attempt to ignite Comoros’ attack.

Mali Form

Mali were unable to qualify for the World Cup, finishing third in Group I after winning five of their 10 matches. They played one friendly to warm up for AFCON, a 0-0 draw against Jordan.

Tom Saintfiet’s side were set for victory in their opening match in Group A. El Bilal Toure saw his penalty saved before Lassine Sinayoko opened the scoring, but they were caught out in added time by Zambia and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The Eagles fell behind against Morocco but held on and were rewarded from the penalty spot. Sinayoko converted it and they held on for an important point which preserves second spot in the group.

Mali Predicted Line Up & Team News

Mali (4-2-3-1) Djigui Diarra; Woyo Coulibaly, Abdoulaye Diaby, Mamadou Fofana, Amadou Dante; Mamadou Sangare, Aliou Dieng; Lassine Sinayoko, Kamory Doumbia, Dorgeles Nene; El Bilal Toure

Yves Bissouma returned from injury and lasted 57 minutes against Morocco. Expect the playmaker to start again here.

Defenders Sikou Niakate and Hamari Traore continue to recover from injury and could sit out again to be in contention for the knockout rounds.

Verdict

Comoros are one of three teams yet to score at AFCON and are set for a group stage exit. Mali will want to rack up a score here and confirm their spot in the Round of 16.
