English Championship Predictions - 13 December 2025, Matchday 21

Last updated: 2 hours ago

Matchday 21 in the English Championship presents intriguing fixtures. Birmingham, sitting mid-table, are favored to secure a win against Charlton, who struggle on the road. Coventry, leading the Championship with a commanding goal difference, face Bristol City in a match likely to feature multiple goals. Middlesbrough, also in excellent form, welcome QPR, with both teams expected to find the net in an entertaining matchup. The close contest between Wrexham and Watford hints at a probable 1-1 draw, with both teams showing moderate form in recent outings.

English Championship Predictions - Matchday 21

Birmingham vs Charlton

St Andrew’s has been a real asset, as the Blues have six wins from nine home league games to sit mid-table on 28 points, while Charlton are down in 19th with 23.

Charlton have lost their last five games in all, as well as their last three on the road. They’ve scored just two in four away games while Birmingham have won four on the trot at home, scoring 14 and conceding just twice. They come into the match on the back of two defeats, so it’s likely a low-scoring win to nil for the hosts.

Coventry vs Bristol City

Coventry top the Championship on 44 points from 20 games, with a huge plus-29 goal difference and 2.55 goals per match; they’ve won eight of 10 at the CBS Arena and haven’t lost at home for 12 matches.

Bristol can smell the playoff places and come off a feisty 1–0 loss to Millwall that ended in a mass brawl, underlining a shaky spell before a brutal run of fixtures. Both sides boast a league-high seven clean sheets, but recent meetings favour Coventry, who are unbeaten in the last three and have edged the rivalry overall.

Middlesbrough vs QPR

Boro are second, QPR seventh, both firmly in the promotion conversation, but equally aware of the chasing pack. Kim Hellberg has started fast at Middlesbrough with three straight wins, including a 2–1 away victory at Charlton and a 4–1 hammering of Hull. Over the last six, Boro have four wins, one draw and one defeat, averaging 2.17 goals per game – proper top-end form.

QPR arrive buzzing too, with four wins in five and that 96th-minute winner over Birmingham that pushed them into the play-off spots on points. Head-to-head leans towards Boro, with four wins from their last five, and with a healthy lick of goals to entertain the gathering.

Wrexham vs Watford

It’s 12th vs 14th and just a single point between them – Watford on 28, Wrexham on 27 – so this screams tight mid-table scrap. Both sides share the same recent pattern: two wins, three draws, one defeat in their last six. The one difference is goals, with Wrexham struggling to score while Watford have been setting the net rippling more regularly.

Wrexham have been very hard to shift at the Racecourse, with two wins and a draw in their last three home games, conceding only 0.33 goals on average. Watford’s long-term away record is poor – just one win in 10 and five defeats. Based on the form book I’m writing this up as likely a 1-1 draw.

Verdict

Birmingham to nick the points from poor travellers Charlton, and goals to flow between Coventry and Bristol City.

Middlesbrough to win QPR with goals from both sides, while Wrexham to hold Watford to a draw.
