As the football season heats up, exciting predictions are in store across various matches. Expect plenty of goals between Watford and Sheffield Wednesday. A draw seems likely for the clash between Preston and Coventry. Swansea is set to achieve a win to nil against Portsmouth, while Middlesbrough is poised to outmatch Charlton. Watford's win is anticipated with odds at 3.25, Preston's draw has odds of 3.6, Swansea's win to nil is backed at 3.3, and Middlesbrough’s victory holds a 2.2 odds. These predictions offer thrilling prospects for football enthusiasts.

English Championship Predictions, Matchday 12


Watford vs Sheffield Wednesday


This should be three much-needed points for Watford against a Sheffield side that has won just one of their 18 matches this season. They’re on a 12-match streak without a win, losing eight of their last 10 matches, including their last four matches in a row. 

Watford have won seven, drawn six and lost six, and have lost just one of their last seven matches. They haven’t lost to Wednesday since 2013, but they shouldn’t take their visitors lightly as, despite their losing record, they have put up a strong fight in a lot of their matches. With both sides desperate for a win we should see a fair crack of goals. 

Preston vs Coventry


Fifth-placed Preston welcome table-toppers Coventry, who have won 13 of their 19 matches. Preston have had a strong season but have only picked up one win in their last five matches, while Coventry’s six-match winning streak ended in a 3-0 away defeat at Ipswich.

Coventry have scored two or more goals in eight of their last 10 games and Preston score at a reasonable click, so we should be in for some goals in what could end in a draw given Preston’s home-ground advantage.

Swansea vs Portsmouth


Relegation-zoned Portsmouth will be desperate for three points to lift them level with Swansea on 20 points. Portsmouth have lost three of their last four matches, with one win and a draw. Swansea’s run of five defeats on the trot ended on the weekend when they picked up a 2-0 home win over Oxford United. 

Portsmouth have failed to score in their last two matches, while Swansea have scored in eight of their last 10 matches. Portsmouth have lost four and drawn one of their last five matches and are on a seven-match winless streak. Home advantage should see Swansea take the points. 

Charlton vs Middlesbrough


Charlton are on a four-match losing streak, shipping 12 goals to two as they’ve sunk to 17th place, just six points above the drop zone. Middlesbrough have won 10 and lost just three matches in rising up to second spot with 36 points. 

Boro have won their last two matches on the bounce with a goal tally of 6:2, and they’re strong on the road, losing just two of their last 10 matches. They should have an easy ride of it, but they will have to work hard for their win as Charlton’s home form is impressive, winning six, drawing two and losing two of their last 10 home matches. 

Verdict

Plenty of goals between Watford and Sheffield Wednesday, while Preston and Coventry to share the points.

Swansea to beat Portsmouth to nil, while Charlton to be outmuscled by Middlesbrough.
