Crystal Palace vs Manchester City

It’s a top-four clash with Palace in 4th place on 26 points, while City sit 2nd on 31, so get ready for a proper heavyweight bout at Selhurst. Palace have managed two-plus goals in four of their last six meetings with City, and recent games between them tend to be open and high scoring.

City arrive buzzing after a 2–1 win away at Real Madrid in the Champions League, but that midweek intensity could also mean some tired legs. City still feel like the likeliest winners, but I’ll only stick my neck out as far as saying it’s gonna be goal heavy!

Sunderland vs Newcastle

It’s the first top-flight Tyne-Wear derby in nearly a decade, with Sunderland (9th on 23 points) and Newcastle (12th on 22) running neck-and-neck and within a sniff of Europe. Sunderland have four wins from their last seven at home in the League and without a loss, while Newcastle lost four in a row before a win and a draw in their last two matches.

It’s hard to call a derby especially with two teams enjoying such similar form. Neither side is big on goals this season, so I’d call it two goals or less on the day.

West Ham vs Aston Villa

West Ham are in trouble down in 18th with 13 points from 15 games, while Villa rock up 3rd on 30 points and within a win of the top spot. Emery’s side are flying: eight wins on the spin and 13 victories from their last 15 in all competitions, with only two defeats since September.

West Ham haven’t beaten Villa in their last six meetings, but current form is heavily in the visitors’ favour: West Ham have only won two of their last 10 games.

Brentford vs Leeds

Two sides with an eye on stepping away from the drop zone. Brentford sit 14th on 19 points, Leeds 16th with 15, so it’s a lower-mid-table scrap with real stakes. The Bees have lost four of their last six overall but remain much stronger at home, while Leeds have lost six of their last night games and seven of their last eight on the road, so Brentford aren’t likely to be losing sleep ahead of this clash.

Brentford should take it, and by the formbook there shouldn’t be a lot of goals, but Brentford have scored three-plus goals in five of their last 10 matches, and Leeds have been scoring a fair whack recently, so going for total goals is a good call, especially as they are both likely to throw caution to the win in what is an effective six-pointer in the relegation race.

Verdict

Palace and City to entertain with a goal bonanza, while Sunderland and Newcastle to struggle to hit the net.

Villa to take three points off West Ham, while it’s a tough relegation clash between Brentford and Leeds.
