English Premier League Predictions - 17-19 May 2026, Matchday 37

Newcastle vs West Ham

The Hammers are in the drop zone and need to win to slip ahead of Spurs, who are the only other team in the relegation battle. It’s not looking good for West Ham who have lost their last two matches, while Newcastle have four points from their last two matches.

Newcastle lost their previous five matches on the bounce, while West Ham had seven points from their previous three matches. Newcastle’s home form have seen them lose three of their last five, and West Ham have the same record in their last five on the road.

West Ham have failed to score in their last three matches on the road, and with Newcastle being unbeaten in their last two matches I’m backing the Hammers to go down fighting.

Arsenal vs Burnley

A win for Arsenal would put the pressure on City to win their last two games and hope that Arsenal lose or draw their last match. Burnley are without a win in 11 matches, losing eight of those matches. Arsenal have recovered from their dip in form to make it through to the Champions League final.

The Gunners have won four of their last five matches, with one draw, keeping an astonishing four clean sheets in that streak. Burnley’s form on the road is poor, so Arsenal should batter them and that’s the sensible bet, but Arsenal have struggled in recent years in the last few matches of the season, and with nothing to lose I’m backing Burnley to pull off a draw. It’s a long shot, but the title race usually throws up crazy results.

Bournemouth vs Manchester City

Bournemouth can still pip Liverpool to a Champions League spot and they have the form to trouble Man City, especially with the Citizens having three big matches in a week. Bournemouth have four wins and a draw from their last five matches, so they will be confident of hosting City.

Bournemouth are undefeated in their last 15 matches, but City’s record this season is incredible, losing only to Real Madrid since January. City won their home match against Bournemouth earlier in the season 3-1 and they have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four matches on the road.

City are hungry for the title and know how to chase, and considering the level of brilliance they are displaying in the past month as their squad has really gelled then this must be a win for them. Bournemouth have only failed to score once in their last 10 matches, and with City’s defence being prone to moments of craziness, I’m backing Bournemouth to score in the defeat.

Chelsea vs Tottenham

Chelsea could still finish in a European spot, but their form has been terrible. Spurs want to end their own terrible season by avoiding relegation, and a win against Chelsea could just about do it, depending on West Ham’s result this weekend.

Chelsea will be stretched physically after playing the FA Cup final on Saturday, and they have lost seven of their last 10 matches. They have also failed to score in six of their last 10 matches as well as losing five of their last seven home matches.

Spurs are unbeaten in their last four matches, picking up eight points. They have also won their last two matches on the road after a five-match losing streak. Spurs can smell safety and will go flat out at a Chelsea side that should be physically down after playing Man City at Wembley on Saturday, so I’m backing the visitors for the win.

Verdict

Wins for Newcastle, Manchester City and Tottenham, while Arsenal and Burnley to battle out a draw.
