Brentford vs Burnley

Brentford are flying again – four wins from their last six in all competitions, including that 3–1 comeback over Newcastle and a 5–0 cup romp away to Grimsby, with Igor Thiago already on nine league goals.

Burnley, by contrast, have slumped to 19th and come in on a run of three straight defeats and five losses in seven, conceding twice or more in each of those defeats. On current form this looks very much like a home win, with Brentford’s attack too sharp for a fragile Burnley defence.

Sunderland vs Bournemouth

Sunderland have cooled slightly after their hot start. In their last three matches they drew 1–1 with Everton before a thrilling 2–2 clash against Arsenal, only to be followed by a gut-punch 1–0 loss at Fulham. They’re still sitting in the top seven and have been tough to beat at the Stadium of Light, losing just one of their last seven matches.

Bournemouth are 8th in the League and in decent nick. In their last five they’ve beaten Forest, drawn 3–3 at Palace and 2–2 with West Ham, but were thumped 4–0 at Villa and 3–1 at City. With Bournemouth’s games full of goals and Sunderland steady rather than spectacular, this feels like a very even, high-energy contest – something like a score draw or narrow home edge.

Everton vs Newcastle

Everton come into this match on a real high after their remarkable 1–0 win at Old Trafford with 10 men came on the back of a 2–0 home victory over Fulham and a gritty score-draw at Sunderland. That’s three wins and a draw in seven league games and an improving home record at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium, where they have won four and drawn two of their last seven matches.

Newcastle’s form is all over the place: ‘big scalp’ wins over Man City and Union Saint-Gilloise have been sandwiched inbetween three losses and a horrible away run that has now stretched to 14 matches with just one win. Given Everton’s momentum and Newcastle’s travel sickness, the Toffees look the safer side to back, especially if it turns into another tight, low-scoring scrap.

Tottenham vs Fulham

Spurs are in full chaos mode: only three wins in 12 since September and fresh from a 4–1 derby hammering by Arsenal and a 5–3 collapse at PSG, where the attack looked dangerous but the defence fell apart again. Fulham come into the match quietly resurgent after picking up three wins in their last four in all competitions, including a 3–0 cruise past Wolves and the late 1–0 victory over Sunderland. To counter that, they’ve also lost five Premier League away games in a row, including 3–1 at Bournemouth and 2–0 at Everton.

With Spurs still scoring and Fulham travelling badly, this has all the ingredients of a wild, open game that Tottenham should edge if they can keep the individual errors down. If you’re feeling adventurous then a Fulham win offers good odds and has the data to back sizing up a long shot.

Verdict

Brentford to score freely against struggling Burnley, Sunderland and Bournemouth to slug it out for a draw.

Everton to eke out a win over travel-weary Newcastle, while Fulham to spark an upset by beating wayward Spurs.
