English Premier League Predictions - Matchday 21

Manchester City vs Brighton

City’s winning streak has been broken by two frustrating draws that have let Arsenal open up a gap at the top of the table. Brighton have had a strong season, with seven wins, seven draws and six defeats that have left them just three points off the European places.

Brighton drew their last away match against City and won their last two matches against the Citizens. That said, Brighton have won just one of their last eight matches on the road, losing four, while City have won 11, drawn one and lost one of their last 13 home games, so the smart money is on City bouncing back with three points.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham

This should be a chance for Spurs to start stacking up the wins, as Bournemouth have lost six and drawn five of their last 11 matches. Spurs have won three of their last seven, losing just twice, but they are having a poor season, losing four of their last seven on the road. Neither side has been scoring heavily, so I’d bank on a low-scoring draw… but with both sides being so inconsistent it’s probably best to rather focus on match goals.

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa

Villa have been magnificent and are level on points with second-placed Man City. Palace have had some superb results but have slipped down to 14th on the table. Villa have won 12 of their last 13 matches, their only loss coming away to leaders Arsenal, although they did beat them at Villa Park early December.

Palace have lost five and drawn two of their last seven, so although they have taken some big scalps this season, they are unlikely to have much confidence coming into this clash. Villa haven’t conceded much lately and Palace have been low on goals, so that’s where the best value is likely to be found.

Everton vs Wolves

Wolves broke their 12-match losing streak with an away draw against Man United followed by a 3-0 home win over second-from-bottom West Ham. Everton are 14 points clear of the drop zone but are going through a rough patch, losing three and winning just one of their last five matches.

With Wolves fighting for their life and tasting four points from two matches I’m inclined to back them to win again, especially as Everton have lost four of their last six home games.

Man City to overpower Brighton, while Bournemouth and Spurs to punch out a low-scoring draw.

Palace to battle at home against Aston Villa, but Everton to feel the Wolves backlash.
