English Premier League Predictions - 4 May 2026, Matchday 35

Matchday 35 of the English Premier League sees Chelsea, struggling in ninth, aiming for a Europa League spot as they host an in-form Notts Forest side desperate to avoid relegation. Despite poor recent form, Chelsea’s FA Cup boost could see them secure a draw. In the other match, Everton’s inconsistency and Man City’s impressive run point to a likely City win, despite Everton’s goal-scoring ability. The key takeaway: expect a Chelsea-Forest draw and yet another away win for Man City over Everton.

Chelsea vs Notts Forest


Chelsea’s poor season sees them down in ninth spot in the table and almost certainly out of the running for Champions League football, although they will be pushing for a spot in the Europa League or the Conference. Forest have had a great run in Europe but are just five points above the drop zone. They will be desperate for at least a point from this clash.

Forest have won three and drawn two of their last five matches in the League, while Chelsea have lost all five of their last handful of League matches. In all competitions Forest are unbeaten in nine matches (six wins), keeping five clean sheets.

Chelsea are having a horror run, losing seven of their last nine matches in all competitions, with their two wins coming in the FA Cup against lowly Port Vale and struggling Leeds. Chelsea’s home form isn’t great while Forest are unbeaten on the road in their last five matches. 

Chelsea should be buoyed by securing their place in the FA Cup final by winning their last match, so that should put a spring in their step. Forest are on fire but have had a heavy workload, so this could well end up as a score draw.

Everton vs Man City


Everton are still in the hunt for a spot in the Europa League, while Man City are hunting Arsenal’s six point lead at the top of the table, but the Citizens have two matches in hand and will probably go top on goal difference with two wins. 

Everton have lost three of their last five matches, with just one win, which was at home to struggling Chelsea. They have been scoring goals and in their last 10 matches they have only been goalless in their defeats to Arsenal and Man United. They look good value to find the net at home, although with just two wins in their last 10 home matches they look set for a heavy defeat. 

City’s only two defeats in their last 20 matches have come against Real Madrid, and they have won 15 of those 20 matches, pounding in plenty of goals. They have won their last three away matches by a combined goal tally of 6-0, with wins and clean sheets over Arsenal, Chelsea and Burnley.

City have won their last nine matches away to Everton, keeping four clean sheets in the last five of those matches, but this season Everton are scoring well so this looks good for a City win with both sides to score. 

Verdict

Chelsea and Notts Forest to draw, while Everton to go down at home to Man City yet again.
