Howe’s team came back from a goal down to hold Brighton to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Newcastle had 13-5 shots, conceded in the first half and Isak equalised in the 89th minute.

Chelsea are level on points with Newcastle and sit fifth in the Premier League. They are just two points above sixth-placed Nottingham Forest with three matches remaining. 

Enzo Maresca’s outfit are undefeated in six successive league fixtures, including two draws. The Blues have won their previous three in a row, defeating Fulham 2-1, Everton 1-0 and Liverpool 3-1.

The London team reached the Conference League final with a 1-0 home win over Djurgaarden in midweek. Chelsea led 4-1 after the first leg and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal at Stamford Bridge.

Forward Mykhailo Mudryk is suspended.

Defender Wesley Fofana and forwards Marc Guiu and Christopher Nkunku won’t make the squad due to injury.

Verdict

Newcastle and Chelsea won’t want to lose ground in the top five race and a close contest is expected. Isak is tough to stop this season and the Toon’s top scorer can strike again at St James’ Park.
