Equatorial Guinea vs Namibia Predictions - Hosts set to get World Cup qualification off to winning start

Equatorial Guinea is predicted to win against Namibia in their upcoming match. Equatorial Guinea, having gone undefeated in their last seven matches with four clean sheets, seems to hold a clear advantage over the currently struggling Namibian team that has been winless in their last five matches. The match hints towards a 2-0 victory favoring the home team, Equatorial Guinea, that has shined in its CAF World Cup qualifying stage.

Equatorial Guinea vs Namibia Preview

Equatorial Guinea should be too good on home soil. I’m backing the hosts to take all three points with a win to nil.

Head to Head

These two have not previously met.

Equatorial Guinea Form

Equatorial Guinea come into this CAF World Cup qualification stage in decent form. They are unbeaten in their last seven matches.

During the qualification stage for AFCON, Equatorial Guinea beat Botswana 2-0 at home before defeating the same opposition 3-2 away. It was followed by a 1-0 home success over Tunisia. In their final AFCON qualifier, they drew 1-1 in Libya.

In mid-October, Equatorial Guinea drew 0-0 at home against Burkina Faso. It was a tightly fought contest but in the end, it was only really a friendly in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers.

Equatorial Guinea Injuries & Team News

Equatorial Guinea have a squad of vast experience. Their players come from leagues across the world, mostly Spain. Up front, captain, Emilio Nsue will be key with his 15 goals in 37 appearances.

Namibia Form

Namibia have never really been a powerhouse of African football and they continue to struggle. However, they do generally manage to be quite competitive against better opposition.

While Namibia failed to qualify out of the group stage of the COSAFA Cup earlier this year, they were more than competitive in all games. They drew 1-1 with South Africa before losing 2-1 against Eswatini.

That was followed by a 0-0 draw against Botswana. While Namibia tends to keep teams out regularly, their own failings in front of goal continues to be a huge problem. Their last match ended 0-0 against South Africa in a friendly.

Namibia Injuries & Team News

Namibia don’t have much world-class individual talent, but their collective is competitive. Most of their squad player within Africa, either in South Africa or at home.

Verdict

I am backing Equatorial Guinea to win to nil. A 2-0 scoreline is tipped.
