Rwanda vs South Africa Preview
This is a clash between two teams who are pretty solid defensively and will both look counter. That could lead to a cagey affair, one I think South Africa will win by the odd goal.

- South Africa Injuries & Team News
- Rwanda have seen under 2.5 goals in 12 of their last 14 matches.
- Rwanda have drawn their last 2 matches.
- South Africa are unbeaten in 16 of their last 17 matches.
- South Africa have seen under 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.
Head to Head
These two sides have not met before.
Rwanda Form
Rwanda have failed to win a game in their last six matches in all competitions. Of those six games, they have drawn three and lost three.
During AFCON qualification, Rwanda lost to Benin and Mozambique at home. They secured a 1-1 draw in Senegal but that was against a weakened Senegal outfit.
This past weekend Rwanda were disappointing, drawing 0-0 against Zimbabwe, a game the hosts would really have felt they should have won.
Rwanda Injuries & Team News
Rwanda have no reported injuries and should remain close to unchanged. Murhire may however get a start after impressing off the bench against Zimbabwe.
South Africa Form
South Africa have only lost one game in their last 17 games across all competitions. While there have been many draws, Hugo Broos has brought in a very determined look to the side.
The only defeat Bafana Bafana had in this run was during the COSAFA Cup to Zambia. They however drew Malawi and Namibia after that loss before defeating Congo 1-0 in a friendly. Two more draws followed against Eswatini and Ivory Coast.
In their opening FIFA World Cup qualifier, South Africa raced into a 2-0 halftime lead against Benin at home. They didn’t score again but kept Benin at bay to win 2-1.
South Africa Injuries & Team News
Bafana Bafana are not the most exciting of sides to watch under Broos, but they are very solid at the back with some x-factor in forward positions. I think Broos will keep a largely unchanged side for this encounter.
Verdict
I am backing South Africa to come out on top in this FIFA World Cup qualifier.
