Earlier in the tournament, Madagascar drew 0-0 against Mauritania, lost 2-1 to Tanzania and beat the Central African Republic 2-0, Burkina Faso 2-1, and Kenya 4-3 on penalties in the quarter-finals after the match had ended 1-1.

Morocco defeated Senegal 5-3 on penalties in their CAF African Nations Championship quarter-final clash on Tuesday after the match had ended 1-1 after extra time.
