Hoffenheim vs Stuttgart

Hoffenheim will be frustrated by losing their opening two matches of the season both by 3-2 scorelines. They’ve won just one of their last five matches but have averaged two goals per game, so I’m backing them to score.

Stuttgart have three wins in their first four competitive matches of the season, scoring 11 goals to two in those matches. They suffered a brutal 5-1 thrashing away to Bayern Munich, but losing away to the perennial Bundesliga champions is almost a given for all teams. They should overpower their hosts but are unlikely to keep a clean sheet.

FC Koln vs Werder Bremen

FC Koln lost 4-1 away to a strong Stuttgart side in their last match after three wins in a row which saw them net seven times. They have lost just once in six matches while hitting a whopping 18 goals.

Werder Bremen lost their Bundesliga opener 4-1 to Freiburg but bounced back with a 3-1 home win over RB Leipzig. The visitors haven’t won on the road in the Bundesliga for four matches and have shipped 12 goals to four in their last five matches away to FC Koln, losing three of those matches.

RB Leipzig vs Hamburger SV

RB Leipzig have beaten Hamburger SV in their last four meetings, scoring 11 goals to three. Leipzig started the competitive season with a 6-0 win in the Cup followed by a 3-0 home win in the league. They lost their next league match to Werder Bremen and lost 4-1 to Como in the Champions League, but I’m backing them to get back to winning ways against Hamburger.

The visitors beat Veri 3-0 away in the German cup only to lose their opening two Bundesliga matches 2-0 to Dortmund and 5-0 to Mainz. Leipzig are really strong at home, being undefeated in their last 10 matches and winning their last eight home matches in a row. They’ve kept clean sheets in their last three home matches and five in their last seven home matches, so I feel good about backing a win to nil.

Elversberg vs Bayern Munich

This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides, and with Bayern drawing their last match in the Bundesliga and Elversberg winning both of their two matches in their first ever season in the Bundesliga I’m backing something special to happen.

Elversberg came back from 3-1 down away to beat Monchengladbach 4-3 away from home a week after an incredible Bundesliga debut that saw them beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-2 at home. They have won six and drawn one of their last seven matches and while Bayern are a force of nature, I remain a romantic at heart and am going to back the home side for a win or a draw.

Verdict

Hoffenheim to score in Stuttgart, while I’m backing FC Koln to continue their good home form against Werder Bremen.

RB Leipzig’s brilliant home form to continue against struggling Hamburger SV, while unbeaten Elversberg to cash in on Bayern Munich’s recent away draw.
