Juventus are set to face Como in an intriguing Serie A match. Juventus’ pre-season form has been shaky, but they managed a confident 2-0 win against Monza at the end of last season. Como returns to the top flight after 23 seasons and will look to capitalize on Juventus’ defensive vulnerabilities. However, Juventus remains strong at home. Notable injuries include Fabio Miretti for Juventus and Raphael Varane and Alberto Cerri for Como. Prediction: Juventus win but concede at least one goal.

Juventus’ struggled during the pre-season, losing two of their three friendly encounters to Nurnberg 3-0 and Atletico Madrid 2-0, while the clash against Brest ended without a winner. 

Their last competitive appearance was in late May in Serie A, beating Monza 2-0 with Federico Chiesa and Alex Sandro finding the net. 

The Old Lady ended the previous season in Italy in 3rd place with 71 points, 23 points behind the champions Inter Milan. They were tough to beat at home, having a record of 11 wins, seven draws and one defeat. 

This is going to be the first competitive match for Thiago Motta as Juventus' new head manager.

Como Form 


Como have returned to the Italian top flight after playing in lower divisions for 23 consecutive seasons. 

They had the first competitive match this season last week in Coppa Italia, holding Sampdoria to a 1-1 draw before losing on penalties. 

During the pre-season campaign, Como beat Las Palmas 2-1 and Cagliari 3-1, losing to Al Hilal 1-0, while the clash against Wolfsburg ended without goals. 

They finished second in last year’s Serie B with 73 points from 38 matches, three points behind Parma and three points ahead of 3rd placed Venezia.

Juventus conceded seven goals in their three pre-season friendlies, so I see good value in backing them to beat Como on Monday and to allow at least one goal.
