Durban City vs AmaZulu Predictions - PSL Derby to end in a cagey draw

The upcoming match between Durban City and AmaZulu is primed for a close contest, with both teams struggling to find the net recently. Durban City are winless in their last six league matches, drawing four straight, while AmaZulu have also drawn four out of their last seven. This low-scoring trend, combined with recent head-to-head results and team news, makes a 0-0 draw a strong possibility. Punters may find value in betting on a goalless stalemate or a draw in the final result.

Durban City vs AmaZulu Predictions

I see this match ending in a draw. A 0-0 stalemate looks like excellent value as neither side is scoring goals of late.

Key Stats – Tight Draw Tipped

  • Durban City drawn their last 4 PSL matches.
  • Durban City are unbeaten in 9 of their last 10 home matches.
  • AmaZulu have drawn 4 of their last 7 matches.
  • AmaZulu have failed to score in their last 2 away matches.

Head to Head – One Usuthu Win

These clubs met for the first time in October.

AmaZulu won 1-0 at home in the reverse fixture.

Durban City Form - Winless in Seven League Matches

Durban City have drawn four straight PSL matches and are winless in seven. They won the Nedbank Cup, but they have looked distracted in their league matches.

A 5-2 loss at bottom-placed Magesi was followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Orbit College. They beat TS Galaxy 2-1 in the Nedbank Cup final before three straight league draws.

They drew 2-2 at Siwelele and 0-0 at home vs Stellenbosch. Their last match saw a 0-0 draw at Orlando Pirates despite being outshot 31-4 and having just two touches in the Pirates box all game.

Four Draws in Seven – AmaZulu Creeping to Finish Line

AmaZulu sit fourth in the PSL table have their last seven matches have seen just one win. They’ve drawn four and lost two fixtures in that streak.

A 3 -0 loss at Orlando Pirates saw 3.97 xG conceded. A superb 5-1 home win over Chippa United preceded 1-1 draw vs Golden Arrows and a 0-0 draw at Orbit College with just three shots attempted.

Their last match brought a 1-0 home loss to Kaizer Chiefs. Usuthu limited Chiefs to just 0.78 xG but lacked ruthlessness in attack.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Durban City (4-2-3-1): Keet; Jalai, Ncanana, Mkhize, Gcaba; Jurgens, Poggenpoel; Maseko, Sifumba, Mokwena; Mwamba.

Fredrick Asare has been playing in goal as first choice Darren Keet has announced his retirement. The latter could return for a farewell appearance here.

Speedy striker Joslin Kamatuka is available again after injury. Combative midfielder Athini Jodwana is ruled out and left back Terrence Mashego is suspended.

AmaZulu (3-4-3): Mzimela; Allan, Fielies, Mthethwa; Radebe, Bern, Hlangabeza, Hanamub; Zikhali, Matlhoko, Maqokola.

Coach Arthur Zwane is without injured triker Thando Ngwenya. Goalkeeper Darren Johnson is out long-term after knee surgery.

There are no suspensions to deal with for this match. Elmo Kambindu is fit to return up front, but is not set to start.

Verdict

I see this ending in a draw, based on the stats. A 0-0 correct score bet looks like excellent value.
