Mamelodi Sundowns won 1-0 away at AmaZulu on Tuesday. Below are the player ratings for the Sundowns starting XI and subs. The Brazilians went top of the PSL, just a few days after an exit from the Nedbank Cup.
STARTING XI
Ronwen Williams: 6
The goalkeeper had very little to do in the match. He had an important first half save but the shot was straight at him.
Khuliso Mudau: 7
It was another very solid display from the right back. However, AmaZulu's best chance came from his side. He also lost his cool on a few occasions in the second half.
Grant Kekana: 7
The central defender was solid and calm. He transmitted his experience to his young partner.
Khulumani Ndamane: 8 - Man of the Match
The young centre back was strong in the duels and cut out many dangerous counter attacks. He nearly scored in the first half, too.
Aubrey Modiba: 8
The left back was brilliant once again. He beat his man on numerous occasions and delivered some excellent crosses.
Jayden Adams: 7
The midfielder had a steady match. He passed the ball well and broke up play. He headed just wide from a corner as his aerial strength was on display.
Teboho Mokoena: 7
The midfielder played a more advanced role. He had a couple of shots and showed real determination in helping Sundowns to break down a low block.
Thapelo Morena: 6
The winger went off injured with a groin problem. He had started the match well with several strong runs and crosses.
Tsiki Ntsabeleng: 5
The on-loan winger tried hard and carried the ball on a few occasions. There was nothing in his performance to suggest that Sundowns should sign him permanently.
Tashreeq Matthews: 6
There were a few flashes of his true level. It was another game without a goal contribution and he was taken off early. Hopefully, this was the start of a return to his peak confidence.
Brayan Leon: 5
The striker looked tired. He was not making as many runs as usual, nor closing down with his full intensity. Coach Miguel Cardoso took him off in the second half.
SUBSTITUTES:
Nuno Santos: 6
He came on for the injured Morena in the first half. Santos tried hard, but nothing came off for him. After starting so well, the Portuguese midfielder has lost form.
Marcelo Allende: 8
The Chilean midfielder had a huge impact. He struck the post and later scored the winning goal. His entry changed the match and made the left flank far more dangerous.
Iqraam Rayners: 7
The top scorer has been out of favour. He came on as a left-sided forward and made a real impact. His energy and hunger were clear.
Lebo Mothiba: 6
The physical forward replaced Brayan Leon. He put himself about effectively and occupied the centre backs to create space.
